About the Product
What Is
SurfTrak?
SurfTrak is an auto-tracking camera tripod built for surfers. It uses ultra-wideband (UWB) technology — the same precision positioning system inside modern iPhones — to lock onto a small wearable beacon and automatically keep the camera pointed at you throughout your entire surf session.
You clip the beacon to your leash or vest, set up the tripod on the beach or pier, power SurfTrak on, and surf. The system calibrates in under 10 seconds, then pans and tilts in real time to track your position with centimeter-level accuracy — through spray, crowds, and breaking waves.
Why SurfTrak Exists
Surfing is one of the most filmed individual sports — but getting good footage has always required a dedicated filmer on shore. Asking a friend to stand on the beach for two hours is a big ask. And even when they do, angles are missed and half the clips are unusable.
SurfTrak was built to solve that problem. The founder, Henry Morris, started the project at 15 surfing The Wedge in Newport Beach. Two years of prototypes led to a system compact enough for any beach, precise enough for any wave.
How It Works
- 01Clip the UWB beacon to your leash or vest. It's about the size of a poker chip.
- 02Set the tripod on the beach or pier. Point it roughly toward the water.
- 03Power on SurfTrak. It scans, locks onto the beacon, and calibrates in under 10 seconds.
- 04Surf. SurfTrak pans and tilts in real time to keep you centered in frame.
